Will planning permission be necessary?

In the majority of cases, we strongly advise seeking written clearance or planning permission from your local planning authority before commencing construction. Although many of our projects align with development requirements, unique site circumstances, such as being in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, within a Conservation Area, or alongside a listed building, often necessitate official approval.

Understanding the significance of planning permissions is crucial for a hassle-free process. By obtaining proper permissions, you not only avoid potential complications in the future but also ensure compliance with local regulations and guidelines. These considerations become especially pertinent when dealing with site-specific factors that may require tailored permissions.

At The Green Oak Company, we recognize the intricacies involved in navigating the planning process. We are here to assist you, whether it's handling paperwork or liaising with local authorities. Our goal is to streamline the process, making it as straightforward as possible for you.

If you have any questions or wish to discuss planning requirements further, please feel free to reach out. We're here to ensure that your project starts off seamlessly and progresses smoothly.

Robert McKenzie

Started his working life in 1992 carrying out his carpentry and joinery apprenticeship at the Historic Dockyard Chatham, gaining a wealth of knowledge in a joinery shop. Once gaining his City & Guilds qualification Robert put his skills to creating beautiful handmade sliding sash windows and doors. To expand his knowledge further in first and second fix carpentry Robert went on to site work working with a wealth of different clientele in London and the home counties. This gave Robert experience in all aspects of the building industry which incorporated fitting kitchens, cut and pitch roofing and project management.

In 2018 Robert started his new journey as a company director of AMC Carpenters & Builders Ltd where Robert and Louise are dedicated to building and improving client’s homes. Not wanting to put the tools down Robert spends his spare time cabinet making. Now putting all these varied skills together to construct elegant Oak framed structures.

Tom Aslett

Started his working life in 2013 when he was taken on as an apprentice with a local building company specialising in extensions. After gaining several years experience in this field, he decided it was time for a new challenge and began working on loft conversions where he continued to develop as a young carpenter. His skill set now lays heavily in structural carpentry and timber framing. An aspect of carpentry he has enjoyed most since he started his career.
